Setting up the GTM Cloud

This guide explains how to perform the initial setup of the tool required for creating or importing items. Oracle is in the process of transmitting all cloud the services to a new cloud infrastructure. Initially, only new customers will be provisioned to the new cloud infrastructure, which is referred to as Oracle Generation 2 Cloud Infrastructure (Gen2). Soon, existing customers will also be migrated from the current cloud that is Oracle Public Cloud (OPC). As you are new to Gen2, it is crucial to understand that you are responsible for creating the instances of Oracle Trade and Transportation Management. The Service Administrator should have received a welcome email which provides the URL for the My Service Cloud Portal. It is important to retain this URL even after the instances are created. Only Service Administrators are impacted by the differences between these tenancies. There are no differences for end-users beyond the SSO (Single Sign-On page). For Service Administrators, the differences are with respect to managing users in the Single Sign-On and mail notification. For Oracle Public Cloud, Single Sign-On is provided by a cloud service referred to as Shared Identity Management. Single Sign-On for Gen2 is provided by a cloud service referred to as Identity Cloud Service (IDCS).

You can determine if you are on an Oracle Public Cloud or Gen2 tenancy by looking at the URL of your instance.

If it is an Oracle Public Cloud, the URL of the instance ends in one of the following:

  • otm.us6.oraclecloud.com
  • otm.us2.oraclecloud.com
  • otm.em2.oraclecloud.com
  • otm.em3.oraclecloud.com

If it is a Gen2 instance, the URL ends in one of the following:

  • otmgtm.us-phoenix-1.ocs.oraclecloud.com
  • otmgtm.us-ashburn-1.ocs.oraclecloud.com
  • otmgtm.us-london-1.ocs.oraclecloud.com
  • otmgtm.us-frankfurt-1.ocs.oraclecloud.com

User Roles

Every user is mandatory to have a default user role. The user role controls all the data visibility via a virtual private database (VPD) and functional security for that user. Once a user role is added to the system, you can assign it directly to a user or assign it to another role. If a user is assigned multiple roles, that user can switch between each role without logging out and logging back into the system.

User Access

It is important to understand that menu options are NOT a form of security. Users can access some particular web pages by directly changing the URL, not just by clicking on the menu. Therefore, in order to strictly restrict access, it is necessary to define user access for each and every user.

Configuration and Administration > User Configuration > User Access

Provisioning New Users

Oracle Global Trade Management Cloud user accounts are provisioned from within the application. When provisioning new users, it is necessary to specify the domain created previously. By default, users created in one domain will have access to only PUBLIC data and data defined in that domain. Usernames should not contain the word “ADMIN” since these users are blocked from login
