What is SiteMinder?
Computer Associates (CA) SiteMinder, formerly Netegrity SiteMinder, is an enterprise infrastructure product that enables the centralized, secure Web access management. Its features include user authentication and single sign-on, policy-based authorization, and identity federation. One of the first single sign-on products to arrive on the market, legacy SiteMinder installations still exist to protect the enterprise applications in many company networks.
How does SiteMinder Work?
Web Agents, which are installed in the Web servers will interrupt the user request and check if the requested application is Protected or not?
If protected, it will transfer the request to the Policy Server.
CA Technologies has announced added capabilities in its CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service including the tagless device identification, mobile authentication, and new levels of integration with CA SiteMinder that improve Web application and information security. Having completed the Arcot acquisition in October 2010, CA Technologies added CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service (formerly known as Arcot A-OK for Enterprise) to its security solutions.
CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service can uniquely identify a device — whether it’s a PC or Smartphone to fingerprint individual devices and help combat fraud and protect user privacy. It also profiles the suspicious devices and blocks access if the risk score requires it based on the policy.
